The Certified EQ Career Strategist™ program prepares coaches, counselors and consultants to master EQ coaching skills. The program combines knowledge, feedback, and practice to achieve proficiency in EQ coaching. You will be equipped with advanced coaching techniques, activities, and tools to help leadership, career, college, and/or private clients to use the intelligence of emotions to achieve career success and significance.. Also, you will explore ways to enhance your own EQ skills in your business or career.

Who Should Enroll?

It is designed for career practitioners, career counselors, college career center professionals, career coaches, leadership coaches, executive coaches, or consultants working with clients who want (or need) to increase EQ to advance in their career or prevent career derailment.

Program Dates/Times:

9 weekly classes begin on Wednesday February 10, 2010 from 7:00pm-9:00pm EST and continue for nine consecutive weeks, ending on Wednesday April 7, 2010

Program Length:

18 hours of live, interactive teleseminar (nine, two-hour sessions). Required and optional reading, activities, and questions to be completed between classes.

Prerequisite:

Since this course is an advanced level, it is important that participants have some previous coursework and experience in coaching or counseling. If you are new to coaching, you’ll need to complete by the 3rd class the Five Foundations Coach Training audiotape course (5 hours) FREE (normally $395) - (single user license).

Learning Outcomes:

	Learn specific coaching strategies, skills, and techniques to enhance your own and your clients EQ.
	Know how to use TalentSmart’s® Emotional Intelligence Appraisal™ with clients.
	What emotions are and where they come from.
	How EQ aligns with the core employability skills that employers really want.
	Understand the seven behavioral competencies of the SMARTER EQ process.
	Compare EQ appraisal tools and resources.
	Learn about and receive EQ workbooks, tools, and appraisals for college students, leaders, employees, teams, and career or life coaching clients.
	Deepen your understanding and application of EQ through coaching activities.
	Learn and apply the Thrive vs. Survive Coaching framework.
	Incorporate new media into the development of emotional intelligence (social networks, etc.).
	Learn and apply the power of attraction to achieve greatness in you and your clients.
	Increase your coaching toolkit and competence through dialogue, provocative questions and assignments.
	Identify 12 habits and barriers that keep the client stuck and techniques to move the client forward.
	Understand the core dynamics of energy and impact to evolving in to your desired life.
	Build emotional literacy skills in the critical areas of empathy, influencing, and optimism.
	Receive tools to apply EQ with high achievers, leaders and teams.

Additional Value-Adds:

A reasonable expectation for development of EQ coaching skills is 3-6 months. At the completion of this course, you will not only learn how to incorporate EQ skills into your own life and coaching, but personally practice EQ skills as you take the course. You will receive:

	Weekly electronic lessons and application assignments
	Articles and case studies
	Coaching scenarios and templates
	Five peer coaching sessions as coach and coachee
	360 Feedback activity

Certification Requirements: Become a “Certified EQ Career Strategist™” through Leadership Coach Academy. In addition to EQ classroom training, certification requirements include:

	Completing the reading, activities, and questions and submit them to Cynthia Kivland for review and feedback (approximately 8 hours) no later than four weeks after the classroom training.
	Having a 1-on-1 coaching call (50 minutes) FREE with Cynthia Kivland (the lead instructor) to deepen your understanding and sharpen your focus on EQ coaching, no later than four weeks after course completion. (Included in the price of the course.)
	Participating in five, one-on-one EQ coaching sessions (50-minutes each) with another course participant, twice as the coach and twice as the client.
	Completing and submitting a learning reflection worksheet to your instructor, no later than four weeks after course has ended.
	Taking a learning review and correctly answer 75% of questions.
	In class, sharing relevant information on an EQ tool, book, coaching application or other (about 5 minutes of sharing).

Note: After the classroom training, you have 4 weeks after the completion of the classroom training to complete all the certification requirements. Upon completion of all the requirements, you will receive a certificate with this credential and can use the designation “Certified EQ Career Strategist™.”

CEUs Earned:

This course has been approved by The National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) for 18 CEUs (contact hours). It gives you 18 CEUs towards renewal of your Career/Leadership Coach Academy Certified Career Management Coach or Certified Leadership & Talent Management Coach credential.
